SICK LONDON: fashion, art and music from Gareth Long, Joe Sangre and Steffan Halperin. Shaped by history, not defined by it. First offence: Vicious Burger.
SICK LONDON brings together Gareth Long, founder of Long Clothing and behind the revival of iconic punk label BOY London, and Joe Sangre, together responsible for relaunching PURE SEX, the cult 1980s Kensington Market label. Joining them is Steffan Halperin of influential British band Klaxons, bringing a connection to music, nightlife and club culture.
The original SICK shop, created by BOY London founder Stephane Raynor, operated from Redchurch Street in Shoreditch at the height of the indie sleaze era. It was here that we relaunched BOY London. SICK embodied the spirit of the age: drawing on the past while firmly forging ahead, a nucleus of punk, new rave, goth and East London cool. It was a moment when the underground and the mainstream collided. Klaxons shared the Brits stage with Rihanna, and when she wanted BOY London, she came to SICK.
Gareth Long: Long Clothing, BOY London, New Future London and PURE SEX. Joe Sangre: artist, PURE SEX. Steffan Halperin: Klaxons, from accepting the Mercury Music Prize to arriving at The Brits to perform with Rihanna.
